What Happened

On Friday night in Houston, Sheriff’s deputy, Darren Goforth was murdered execution style at a gas station while filling up.  He was 47 years old. Shannon J. Miles, a 30 year old man, was charged with capital murder. Investigators haven’t yet found a motive, but think Goforth was shot for being a police officer.

Context

It is yet another racially-charged incident in a tense atmosphere following the deaths of Michael Brown, Eric Garner, and Freddie Gray.  Read más

Boo! Nazi Ghost Train filled with Gold?

Possible Nazi secret gold train found in Southern Poland. Two men refused to divulge location until they are guaranteed 10% finder’s fee. Train supposedly disappeared in April 1945 fleeing the Red Army via secret tunnels (built with slave labor) constructed by the Nazis. There are skeptics of the find, many before have claimed to have discovered Hitler’s gold. Read más

Did You Ever Wear Your Wife like a Hat? 

Dr. Oliver Sacks, the neurologist and acclaimed author, died today at 82. He was a prolific writer, most known for his books The Man Who Mistook His Wife For A Hat, and Awakenings, which was made into a movie starring Robert de Niro and Robin Williams. In February Sacks announced that he had been diagnosed with terminal liver cancer.

Sacks was open about his own mental health issues. He suffered from drug abuse, social anxiety, and prosopagnosia, a disorder that makes people unable to recognize faces. Read más
